Anand Subramaniam, Chitra Ramakrishna and the Unknown Guru of the Himalayas

Actually, the matter is related to NSE CEO Chitra Ramakrishna, Chief Strategic Advisor Anand Subramaniam and Chitra's unnamed guru of Himalayas. The mess of these three not only dented the credibility of NSE but also shook the confidence of the people. This matter is interesting because the yogi who is being mentioned here turned out to be the villain and facilitator of the story. This yogi kept fooling Chitra for years and got her to do the work as per her wish. Yogi got Subramaniam appointed through his instructions, got promotions one after the other and got the salary increased unaccountably. Chitra Ramakrishna was so engrossed in the blind devotion of this yogi that he blindly followed every instruction. Subramaniam got the biggest advantage of this.

Subramaniam turned out to be the Yogi of Himalayas

SEBI had started the investigation of the matter regarding the irregularities in the appointment of Anand Subramaniam, after which such a big matter has come to the fore. During this, the name of a Himalayan yogi also came to the fore, on whose behest Chitra made all the mistakes. The biggest twist of the story is that the yogi who had created this entire incident turned out to be Subramaniam. Yes, Anand Subramaniam was the person who was the author of this scandal and was benefiting himself by becoming a yogi himself. CBI has revealed in its investigation that Subramaniam is actually the unnamed yogi whom Chitra trusted blindly and followed every order of his without thinking. On the orders of Yogi, Chitra had also created a special post for Subramaniam. Chitra is accused of taking many such decisions while in office between 2013 and 2016, which were not considered to be related to the interest of the stock market. One of these was the appointment of Anand Subramaniam, for whom Chitra created an officer-level post in the NSE. Not only this, Chitra gave promotion to Anand Subramaniam every time during his tenure and also got the salary of crores.

Chitra Ramakrishna was the CEO of NSE for three years

Chitra Ramakrishna was the CEO and MD of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) from 2013 to 2016. She was associated with NSE since its inception in 1990. He was appointed as Joint Managing Director of NSE in 2009. In 2013, he was handed the CEO position. In 2016 he was expelled from NSE after misusing his position and his name being linked to a scam. During interrogation, SEBI asked Chitra Ramakrishna on sharing the confidential information of NSE outside, then he told that the email id named rigyajursama belongs to a Siddha Purush Yogi, who has been wandering in the Himalayas for years. He said that the yogis who write the emails have spiritual power. Showing them the way for the last 20 years and they will appear as per their wish.

Yogi aka Anand Subramaniam took advantage of

Anand Subramaniam was appointed as the Chief Strategic Advisor (CSE) at NSE on April 1, 2013. After this, from April 1, 2015 to October 21, 2016, he also served as an advisor to NSE's Group Operating Officer (GOO) and MD-CEO Chitra Subramaniam. Both these posts were not there before Chitra Subramaniam's appointment in NSE. SEBI's investigation started with the recruitment of Anand Subramaniam. That is, the first link in the investigation was Subramaniam. He used to work in a company named Balmer & Lawrie before joining NSE. Here his salary was Rs 15 lakh per annum. Also he had no work experience in capital market. It is alleged that despite all this, the then CEO Chitra Ramakrishna recruited him to the post of Chief Strategic Officer (CSE) in NSE. Not only this, he was also given a salary package of Rs 1.68 crore. He had to work only four days a week.

How did the matter come to the notice of SEBI?

Subramaniam was recruited directly by Chitra Ramakrishna in NSE. It is alleged that for this the HR department of the stock exchange was not even discussed. Apart from this, no advertisement or notice was also issued for recruitment in NSE, nor any other name appeared for this post. Subramaniam was recruited directly after an interview with Ramakrishna. However, no information about this interview was found in Subramaniam's file.

The story of the mysterious Yogi of the Himalayas that came before SEBI
When SEBI questioned Chitra Ramakrishna on sharing NSE confidential information outside, he said that the email id named rigyajursama belongs to a Siddha Purush/Yogi, who has been wandering in the Himalayas for years. He said that the yogis who write the emails have spiritual power. Showing them the way for the last 20 years and they will appear as per their wish. In the order given by SEBI, it was said that Chitra Ramakrishna was very much influenced by this yogi. It was the same yogi who wrote emails to Chitra and instructed her regarding Subramaniam's recruitment to the salary to be given to him. The funny thing is that these emails were sent to Subramaniam along with Chitra Ramakrishna. Not only this, this mysterious yogi repeatedly advised Ramakrishna regarding the promotion of Subramaniam and other senior officers.

Subramaniam used to mail Chitra as a yogi

A forensic audit conducted by consultancy firm Ernst & Young (E&Y) has revealed that Anand Subramaniam himself used to email Ramakrishna posing as a yogi from this mail id. With this tactic, Subramaniam influenced every decision of Chitra Ramakrishna. In a letter sent to SEBI on November 27, 2018, NSE had said that its legal advisors had also discussed the matter with psychologists. Psychologists had told that Anand Subramaniam influenced Ramakrishna by creating a new identity and got the decisions of NSE accordingly. While Ramakrishna used to consult Subramaniam in every matter, she was completely dependent on Yogi for decisions.
