During this period, the BSE Telecom Index gained six percent, while the Realty Index was up 5.6 percent. However, the BSE Metal Index lost nearly two percent.


Sensex jumps 1914 points

Significantly, in the week ended Friday, the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensex closed at 59,277 with a gain of 1914.49 points, or 3.33 percent. On the other hand, the Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) closed at 17,670 with a gain of 517.45 points or 3.01 percent. The BSE Smallcap index gained momentum this week as well. It closed with a gain of 3.2 percent. About 100 shares of the smallcap index were seen jumping 10 to 25 percent. Along with this, talking about the BSE Large Cap Index, also registered a rise of three percent. Top gainers included Godrej Consumer Products, GAIL India, Adani Total Gas, Adani Enterprises, and Indus Tower. The midcap index, along with small and large caps, rose 2.7 percent.


HDFC market capitalization increased

The week ended April 1 was also a relief in terms of market capitalization. During this period, HDFC Bank saw the biggest increase in the market cap. Apart from this, companies whose market capitalization increased include Reliance Industries, Hindustan Unilever, and Airtel. Meanwhile, Foreign Institutional Investors or Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) bought Rs 5,590 crore in the Indian markets. DII also made purchases worth Rs 5,052 crore. The rupee saw an increase last week against the dollar.
